The Queen's Abbey

The Royal Abbey of Our Lady of Fontevraud, located on the outskirts of the three provinces of Poitou, Anjou and Touraine, is one of the largest cloistered cities from the Middle Ages. Classified as a Historic Monument since 1840, it has since 2000, been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site alongside the rest of the Loire Valley. It's most famous resident was Aliénor d'Aquitaine, mother of Richard the Lionheart, King of France and then England.
